Remembering a Reiss ancestor on Veteran's Day

Greetings, attached are two records of the seven months our great grandfather, Frank Reiss, served with the Illinois 31st Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. The first 2.5 pages are the official government summary and the balance were written 35 years later by members of that unit. Several of the statements which impressed me are highlighted in yellow.
